Breakdown of Highly Anticipated Sony A7siii

By ShotbyChuka for REPLAY NGA

Just yesterday, Sony announced their highly anticipated mirrorless camera, the Sony A7siii. This camera is made primarily for video shooters and is the successor to the legendary Sony A7sii which was released 5 years ago.⁣

Here are 10 important things you need to know about this camera:⁣

1. We all complained about Sony’s old menu system. Well, Sony listened and gave us a new, much better menu system. ⁣

2. It has a flip LCD screen with full touch capabilities. Sony finally gives us a flip screen which is very useful for vlogging and yes, the screen can now actually be called a ‘proper touch screen’. A touch screen that is actually useful. ⁣

3. It has a 12.1MP sensor. This small number of megapixels is actually a plus rather than a downside because it makes the camera to perform better in low light situations (less noise). This is because each pixel in the 12.1MP is pretty huge and that huge pixel size helps in low light. It has a max iso of 409,000 and test results from @genenagata shows that you can get decent footage from it at 12,800 iso. That’s crazy.⁣

4. It can shoot 4k up to 120fps and 1080p up to 240fps. Plus it has no recording time limit. Slow mo has never been this good 🙂. 4k 120fps has a slight crop of 1.1X.⁣

5. It has a new cooling system that prevents the camera from overheating (except when used for a long period of time under extreme weather conditions).⁣

6. 10bit 4:2:2 available in all recording modes along with Slog 2 & 3. ⁣

7. It has Ibis and can be combined with its steadyshot mode (digital stabilisation) for even steadier shots. ⁣

8. It has 2 card slots which accommodates either 2 UHS-2 SD cards or 2 CF express type A cards (new type of card) ⁣

9. It charges via USB type C or micro USB and it has a full size HDMI Port 😯, headphone jack and a mic jack. ⁣

10. It costs $3499. Currently available for preorder and its scheduled to be available from the 24th of September, 2020.⁣

At this point, to be honest, I don’t mind owning a Sony camera (the Sony A7Siii) because this camera basically checks all the boxes for me. ⁣
